Hail of at Storm: What to do After a Hailstorm

We know that May and June are the peak months of severe weather season. Us Midwesterners are no strangers to hailstorms, but if you’re new to the area or are a first time homeowner, you don’t have to worry.

What to do after a hailstorm:

After the storm passes and the weather clears up, check to see if you can identify some of the signs of a hail-damaged roof. If you’re not 100% sure, call us before calling your insurance company. Some insurance companies will automatically consider your call for an inspection as a claim and will count it against you regardless if there was damage found or not. However, if you live in an area that has been deemed a catastrophe, then you should call your insurance company first. After you’ve called your insurance company, they will schedule an inspection with an adjuster. We can be present for that for help and support if you ask us to.

The inspector will then send you a scope of the work that needs to be done via email or mail. You may also receive the Actual Cash Value (ACV) check from your insurance provider, as well. Provide us with a copy of the scope so we can verify accuracy and request any changes, if necessary. After this, you can pick out new materials, and we can get you on our schedule. On installation day, final inspections will be done, and you will receive warranty information. After all work is completed, send invoices and paperwork to your insurance provider to receive the final depreciation check. Finally, you can enjoy your brand new roof.
